Last year Fat Joe and Remy Ma reunited after a long time and dropped one of the hottest songs of the year All The Way Up. This was followed up by a few more singles before the pair dropped a joint album a few weeks. Trick Daddy and Trina have decided to follow in the footsteps of the aforementioned duo and are scheduled to release a joint project together. Trick Daddy made the announcement recently during an interview with Mass Appeal.

The duo has penned the deal with Slip N’ Slide Records/Atlantic Records, the label that helped them gain commercial success in the late 90s. Trick’s second album www.thug.comin particular helped bring the duo a lot of notoriety with the hit single Nann Nigga which featured Trina, who was relatively unknown prior to that. Over the years Trina and Trick Daddy have collaborated on and off to produce other hits such as Shut Up and Tonight. “I just want this Trick & Trina record to be classic. I’m going to turn the Diamond Princess back to the Baddest B*tch,” Trick said during the interview with Mass Appeal. The news was also confirmed by Ted Lucas, the founder of Slip N’ Slide Records who stated that the album has been requested by fans for a long time. "Trick put Miami on the map with gangsta music, which was different from all perspectives. When Miami was known for booty-shaking, Trick was able to change the culture of what people thought about of Miami music, and Trina was able to put female rappers on the map. We’re excited about it, and looking forward to it."  Trick & Trina is reportedly the title of the album.

Trick Daddy has been battling lupus the past few years and it’s great to hear that he’s fit enough to drop a new project. He’s ventured into different projects apart from music including his Famous & Uncensored podcast. Trina’s last album Amazin’ came out in 2010 and managed to sell more than 100,000 copies in the US. She has also released a few mixtapes and EPs since but none of them has gotten any major exposure.

Hopefully the collaboration will see the duo manage to replicate (and surpass) the success that they had together in their younger days. If anything it will elicit nostalgia in fans who grew up listening to the music of both artists.
